The new incarnation of Ordo Equilbrio. An excellent Dark Folk album. The duo that once worked under the monicker of Ordo Equilibrio parted ways following the release of the band’s 3rd CD, “Conquest, Love and Self-Preserverance, dating back to 1998. Tomas Pettersson, however, has decided to continue alone in his endeavor, having since adopted the title Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio. Strangely enough, Chelsea’s absence is actually much less relevant than what one would expect; working alone seems to have allowed Tomas to elevate his fine creation to an even more charismatic and captivating level, turning “Make Love, and War” into possibly his strongest and most well achieved offer to date. Never had his cunning compositions sounded this bold at their martial movements and orchestrations, or as bewitching and moving in their most intimate moments. The basics remain equally simplistic and monotonous as in the past, weaved out of Folk-toned acoustic guitars, militarily-tinged percussions and orchestrations, atmospheric soothing keyboard melodies and Tomas’ disciplined and monochordic vocal tone that bring to life his remarkable poetry, which is certainly some of the finest amongst his peers. Heavily apocalyptic, and at times perversely erotic as well, “Make Love, and War” will easily become a classic to match the finest moments of early pioneers in the genre like Death In June. Essential.
