Steve Roach live in San Francisco
Fans of Steve Roach's highly visual soundscapes rarely have an opportunity to see a live presentation of his work, but those that are lucky enough to live in the San Francisco bay area will have just such a chance on March 19th.

Steve will be bringing his full array of keyboards, processors, didgeridoos and other percussive instruments for an appearance at the Morrison Planetarium in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. This special Spring Equinox Concert will be held in an intimate space which holds only 300 people; you're advised to get tickets right away as it will surely sell out. Tickets are available at TicketWeb and are $17 in advance.

Being at a Steve Roach performance is like no other and is almost beyond the realm of description. Some have likened the experience to a hallucinogenic-induced sense of euphoria, without the need for drugs. This show will be Steve's first official San Francisco appearance. When asked to describe his feelings about playing in the city that is the world center of electronic culture and music, Steve commented, "I'm really excited to be playing in the nerve center --- the receptivity is really high there. There's a long history for this type of music at work in San Francisco --- We will present the music in surround sound within the non-ordinary space of the planetarium. Because of this the concert will be a personal thrill for me and I'm sure that the environment and the audience will assist me to take the music to the edge"

This San Francisco show will also mark the world debut of Steve's newest album for Projekt, Midnight Moon. The music will be featured during the "walk-in" period before the live performance, providing a perfect musical way for attendees to acclimate their minds to the proper space for maximum enjoyment of the sound journey they are about to experience.

Midnight Moon, Steve's first recording for Projekt as a solo artist, will be available in stores April 25th. Touching the ineffable, this music presents a meditation on solitude and quiet isolation. Atmospheric music in the true sense of the word. Ambiguous and quietly mysterious, this slow swirling lattice of smoky melodic-harmonic patterns rises and falls out of the silence which becomes an equal component with the music.

Midnight Moon started to come together in 1998 and was nearly two years in the making. While Steve Roach was recording the acclaimed Dust To Dust album, collaborator Roger King often left his guitars in the studio when the duo was not recording. Previously untrained on the instrument, Roach began experimenting with creating atmospheric, highly processed guitar-based sound sculptures. Treating the guitar as a foreign object, he literally felt his way in the dark with the instrument, conducting his explorations in the dimly lit studio in the early morning hours for over a year. With a beginner's mind and an artist's heart, Roach's intuitive approach resulted in this evocative meditation on introspection, creating a place quietly content in isolation.
