English import at a domestic price | Chameleon, Illumina's debut album is a collection of songs varying from the melancholic epic 'Destiny' to the stomping machine ethic of 'No Disintegrations', from the fast and upbeat 'Night Chameleon' to the darkness of 'The Haunted', a song that features on SideLine's "Venusa XX" CD. Amanda-Claire's magical lyrics are about idols, images and feelings; they stem from her own idiosyncratic view of the world. Both music and lyrics are inspired by a wide range of sources including visual media, literature, history, mythology, art and technology. Amanda-Claire's love of a beautiful synth-pop song combines with Steve's electro-rock and experimental leanings and a mutual appreciation of the gothic/electro-industrial scene. The result: beautiful, haunting songs that express wonder, sadness, loneliness and fantasy laid over danceable beats and hook-laden synth lines reinforced with the expressiveness of the guitar.
