Ethereality, shows Bald Daisy as a band living up to their early promise. Building on the sound shown in their earlier demo recordings, this is an album of great songs with moments of genuine originality and innovation. Ranging from all out heavy guitar assaults to atmospheric darkness to sample based, almost trip hop in places this is also an album of exquisite texture and variety.

A review from ukmusicsearch.com Tight Legs opens with a wash of electronic noises that pass from speaker to speaker, showing just what the whole stereo format was invented for. A backing of programmed drums and tight dirty guitar riffing plays against Engirons distinctive vocals. A voice that can sound both sweet and innocent and darkly menacing, sometimes simutaneously. Fortune, has an opening bassline that sounds like a long lost Cure or Joy Division song. A dark atmospheric track that goes from sparse introspection to full on guitar noodling in the blink of an eye, while managing to keep an icy gothic cool throughout. On, Convalesce, the guitars pound out godzilla size riffs against apocalyptic samples that conjure up images of Ministrys classic Psalm 69 album. A.D.D. is a track that manages to sound truly original - there are the massive riffs again, but also strange affected sound affects that add new dimensions to the whole sound, keeping things fresh and interesting. Swing The Gate, has a real Deftones feel to it in the guitars, while the male vocals recall Faith No More singer Mike Patton at his most menacing. Incubus Hatchling has an almost drum and bass feel in its initial introduction, followed by subtle jazz guitar lines - before all hell breaks loose with walls of distorted guitar riffing and Engirons sublime vocals. ...Only 29 Days Till, is another bassline driven track along the lines of Fortune, yet again featuring that Joy Division or Cure-like 80ths gothic rock sound. This is Bald Daisy at their strongest sounding, mixing an atmospheric, almost introspective sound against the more extreme heavy guitar barrage. With Momento Mori, they take a more percussive approach, a mainly drums and vocal performance that again shows off the always impressive vocal range of Engiron as well as Calvus s versatility as a musician. For, The Bone Church, its guitars turned to 11 again for a full on rock assault that leaves you in no doubt that this is a band that can cut it with the cream of todays modern rock bands. Guitar riffs that tear through your skull with their intensity, this is a fitting end to an impressive debut. Ethereality, shows Bald Daisy as a band living up to their early promise.
