RS, the 3rd CD by Rachael's Surrender extends the sonic experimentation of that which has previously been praised by critics and fans alike. Reuben Chew and Michael Verzani return on this album. RS debuts lead vocals by Elysabeth Grant, and drums by Dan Thomas.

With their first two albums, Rachael's.Surrender carved a niche for themselves as a postmodern version of Depache Mode, playing electronically svelte, slightly mechanical techno-noise pop. Into this they introduced a montage of fragments of various musical styles. RS features a new (more pop-friendly) musical direction complete with songs that are a catalog of popular influences ? including goth, electro-pop, and rock influence than previous records, and even flirtations with the sound of the early 80?s dance synth-pop. The group benefitted from latest entrant singer Elyzabeth Grant's gift for expressing referential irony within the locked confines of goth and darkwave. This introduced a complexity into the songs ? unconventional lyrics that often worked at deconstructing the songs? pop musical conventions.

Praise for previous CDs:

"Rachael's Surrender combines industrial darkwave's danceable technological atmospheres with older classic dark pop elements, creating a range of moods from chilling heavy to relatively upbeat... Heavy Lycia-like percussion, keyboards, and guitars are the main ingredients of Rachael's Surrender musical sound... Though it explores some of the same musical territory crossed by such bands as Clan of Xymox and Depeche Mode, this album does make it clear that Rachael's Surrender is inspired to create a sound of its own by that which has come before it, rather than merely content to mimic it. - Lara Haynes, Outburn Magazine, Issue #5 / http://www.outburn.com/

"Rachael's Surrender is an interesting mix of mostly synths in a moody version of ethereal rock. What makes some of their work unique is their ability to add a touch of indie sensibility to their song-writing... Fans of Zoar as well as Depeche Mode should check out Rachael's Surrender." - Michael Otley, StarVox.
