| German Import | There was little time for nostalgia after the legendary Northern Territories had separated at the turn of the millennium. It did not take long before frontman John Alexander Ericson decided to launch his solo career. Originally from Uppsala, a small city near Stockholm, he now lives in London, where his new album "Black Clockworks" was completed.
However, one must begin two years earlier, in Berlin, in the summer of 2004, when Ericson cycled into a small studio in which he recorded 10 songs in 2 hours. A pure jam session, where his new album was created. Black Clockworks is already his third solo release and it proves again that Ericson is an amazing songwriter, telling bitter-sweet stories in a sensitive delicate way. His songs have a deep feeling of intimacy, the melodies are timeless, the voice singular and easily provocative. Here and there one hears a lo-fi beat and the longing in songs such as the titletrack "Black Clockworks" and "Where Secrets Can't Be Found", is completely present, to feel and to grasp.
Ericson's music is based on minimal instrumentation and once more shows the beauty of perfectly composed songs unfolding slowly in tender piano version. An intimate album of hidden secrets of the sound poet John Alexander Ericson!
