The Oh My Goth: Version 2.0 Trade Paperback (Written and Illustrated by Voltaire) collects the original OMG series and the HUMANS SUCK series, plus the never-before-seen HUMANS SUCK #3. Aliens, vampires, teenagers, the Goth scene itself... everyone becomes a target in 168 pages of Voltaire’s most hilarious (and offensive) work!
South Park and The Munsters meets SNL's "Goth Talk" in this hilarious send up of gothic silliness as pompous extraterrestrial, Heironymous Posch alludes skeletal aliens and the dark armies of Lord Beelzebub in the New York Goth scene. You'll choke on your fake fangs and make a pee pee in your vinyl pants when you read Voltaire's hysterical, satirical parody of teenage Goths!
For millions of years, extraterrestrial, Hieronymous Posch has been visiting Earth in an attempt to establish peaceful relations. But every encounter has resulted in disaster as he has single handedly sparked the belief in vampires, witches and the devil. Evil as we know it is apparently nothing more than a misinterpretation of this silly emissary from the planet Necrus, traumatizing humanity at every pass. Recently, when his skeletal superiors decided that the Earth should be paved over into a landing strip, he knew that it was time to jump into action to prevent it. After all, he has the cushiest job in the galaxy to protect. Hovering over the Earth in his space ship, a cathedral like structure called The Black Spire, he spends his time abducting "cute Earth chicks" and watching TV (I mean, monitoring human communications!) With his skeletal brethren as well as the minions of Satan hot on his tail Posch finds refuge in the New York Goth scene. But how can a black clad, pretentious fop from outer space blend in in New York? How could he NOT?!!!
There in the basement of the local Goth club (er...I mean The Catacombs of Eternal Damnation) he meets Bats, Dim, Miss Ann Thropic, Pretentia and Maloderous, a group of sullen, angst ridden teenagers desperately trying to convince the world that they are "real life vampires" while maintaining jobs at Walmart, going to Hebrew school and attending the 8th grade. The ensuing adventures are a hysterical romp through American pop culture as they appear on The Sally Jesse Raphael Show, get repeatedly beat up at shopping malls by the dreaded, Baggy pants wearing Ravers and have satirical encounters with pop icons Marilyn Manson, Bela Lugosi, Bjork and the like.
Originally, in 1995, Voltaire created Oh My Goth! as a way to promote his live shows. "I was inspired by those religious tracts that feature a drawing of Bart Simpson on the cover to lure you in and somehow end up with scripture explaining why poor little Bart is going straight to Hell! I must have drawn, xeroxed, stapled, mailed and handed out thousands of those damn ashcans. I was Kinko's best customer!"
In June of 1998, SIRIUS ENTERTAINMENT stepped in an commissioned Voltaire to create a 4 issue mini-series of his irreverent and blasphemous comic book. The Goth scene has never been the same. Ever see a Goth smile? Nuff said!
