Rajna was born in 1997 and was, at that time, a 3 piece from France, creating music with a decidedly eastern flavor. Rajna was at that time Gérard (yang T’chin), Fabrice (percussions,synth...) and Jeanne for the vocal parts. Now Rajna are Jeanne and Fabrice since Gérard decided to leave the band just after the album Heady Wine. Rajna can be situated somewhere between dream and journey. It is an encounter with different cultures and civilisations, sounds and emotions. Clearly inspired by the mysteries of Orient, our compositions blend instruments from India, Tibet, Nepal and more... Our first album, Ishati, was first released on the French label Prikosnovenie in 1999. Then, Rajna left Prikosnovenie for Holy Records to release Yahili, our second album, in 1999. Straight away,we composed for our third album The Heady Wine of Praise: we really wanted an album much more luminous than the first ones and we worked in that way. It is also a much more ambient album. In 2001 Sam Rosenthal from the U.S. label PROJEKT decided to reissue our 1st album Ishati for the united states. He designed a special treatment for the cover and redesigned the artwork for the U.S. market; it's a a wonderful release everyone should have ! Our 4th album is now finished and should be out early 2002 on Holy Records. It is the best album in time Rajna has ever done...
