OYC are regarded as sound innovators in the worlds of ambient/ethnic/instrumental music. Formed in the UK in 1982 they have been through several incanations and have idiosyncratic methods of making music. They tend to hibernate for lengthy periods of time and their music is often hard to find, being released in small quantities and often not re-pressed. Their most well known work, Peyote is a dark mix of heavy percussion and atmospherics that was popular in the early nineties. At this time they performed live but nothing has been heard of them for many years. Rumours of a new incanation of OYC have been heard and plans for a new album in 2006 - only a decade since the release of their last, Equator.
