More Detailed Band Bio
Trained as a classical pianist, Debra Fogarty (singer/songwriter/programmer) mixes sinister electronics with urgent Beethoven styled strings, piercing through hard driving beats. Created in Hollywood by Debra in early 1998, Diva Destruction displays powerful female vocals with fast and dramatic dance songs. Painful and beautiful, the resulting epic sound combines the best of goth, industrial, and darkwave elements. With aggressive female vocals venting lyrics as bitter as a betrayed lover, the strong emotions of their songs range from fast and angry dance songs to seductively dark ballads. The band is also experimenting with simultaneously using both real and programmed drums on many songs, along with beautiful vocal harmonies. New members Sharon (live keyboards/backup vocals), Benn Ra (guitarist and former member of Nation of Fear), and AntheM (powerful live drummer) have helped create their intense sound and theatrical live shows.
Diva Destruction is enjoying an explosion of success throughout Europe and the U.S with their debut album and three international tours. Many songs from their debut album "Passion's Price" have become big dance club hits, such as "The Broken Ones" and "Enslaved", which are also being heavily played on college radio. Winner of the "Best LA Goth Band" award by the Rock City News and voted as "Newcomers of the Year" by the readers from Orkus magazine (Germany), the band also headlined many large European festivals last year. During their co-headlining concert at the Wave Festival, one of the largest yearly alternative festivals in Europe, excited fans sang the lyrics to many of their songs.
The band is receiving incredible reviews for their aggressive live shows and great stage presence. Reviewers are raving that "these divas really know how to belt it out" and that "music is sex and sex is Diva Destruction". Selected to be on the covers of magazines around the world, reviewers state that all the songs are a "Masterpiece" (Zillo magazine-Germany) and that they were "Born to be Stars" (Starvox). They also repeatedly rank number one on mp3.com/goth rock and were chosen by Robert Smith of The Cure for his top ten pick list on mp3.com. Featured on many top selling compilation albums, such as Unquiet Grave I & II, the band has also recorded songs for popular tribute albums to Radiohead and Cocteau Twins.
The band has recently finished recording their second album, which will be released soon by Metropolis Records in the U.S. Mixed by a famous producer, Scott Humphrey(producer of Rob Zombie and Motley Crue), this second album is already receiving excited press. A special dance remix by Julian Beeston (Nitzer Ebb) is an added bonus track. U.S. and European tours are already planned for spring.
