Voltaire has a new comic book series, It's called DEADY: THE MALEVOLENT TEDDY! and it's based on DEADY, a really adorable (but totally evil teddy bear) Voltaire created for a line of T-shirts that his apparel company, Mighty Fine, makes for Hot Topic and comic book stores.
(from the press release): "DEADY started out as an experiment to see if I could create something truly horrible and malevolent that was at the same time irresistibly adorable,” says artist/writer Voltaire, also a renowned recording artist with a loyal fan following in the Goth music scene. “Judging from the squeals I get from girls when they see him for the first time, I think I am on the right track!"
Voltaire: "Here's what it says in this month's copy of PREVIEWS:
"DEADY: THE MALEVOLENT TEDDY GN by Voltaire :: Cute on the outside, very twisted on the inside! That's what you get when the galaxy's greatest evil escapes confinement on its homeworld and possesses the body of a discarded teddy bear here on Earth. He's cute, he's cuddly… he'll eat you for lunch and floss his wittle teef with your intestines! And Deady loves kids.... well-done with a little BBQ sauce! Whether he's plotting world-domination or just the most horrifying way to make your life miserable, you won't be able to resist the temptation to give him a big fat huggsie wuggsie! Just bear in mind that as you cuddle him, he's thinking through a dozen different ways to your demise! First seen in Hot Topic and comic book stores on thousands of T-shirts designed by Voltaire, Deady's now ready to unleash his full malevolence across the land in his first-ever graphic novel! Squarebound. MATURE READERS b&w, 48pg $5.95"
